New life
Simply changing a coat of paint and some distressing can give a not so lovely piece of furniture a whole new look. Annie Sloan paint is somewhat new here in Alberta, and is catching the wave. What I love is that it covers most any type of surface, no sanding, no stripping no primer, so wonderful. This piece has been painted in the Paris Grey with a dark wax distressed finish.

REMINDERS
Reminders are good in so many ways; to meetup with that special someone, to wake up on time, to complete a task, to eat, and to not take that 4 letter word, TIME, for granted. To be reminded of time past, of lost time whether past or future is essential in making the best of time in order to live without regret. In the first 3 weeks of this year I know of so many who have been reminded clearly of the preciousness of time and now the time has run out. Making, taking and using of time for those we love and put into the places we love makes for everlasting reminders and memories we leave behind.

JANUARY
January the first month of the year brings to mind, snow, cold and sunshine. Oh and yes.. my reminder of becoming another year older. This January however has been springlike with my first ever snowless and warm birthday.
That in itself is a gift making winter seem that much shorter.
I have been hunting and gathering over the Christmas break for both the shop and The Vintage Chicks sale in June looking for those Wow factor pieces.. for home and garden. Some have arrived at the shop and well.. there will be sneak peeks for later additions. New products arrive weekly and you will find decorator items along with collector pieces. Never be afraid to ask.. as you never know what I have stashed behind the door.

A BRAND NEW YEAR
I've never been one to make unrealistic resolutions simply because the calendar reads a new year, but rather I have tried to reflect on the year gone by. As I was pondering today, I was reminded of the blessings, challenges and hurdles that have occurred over the past 12 months, and in reality 48 months. As that is the time frame that our journey of owning and operating Wow and Then began. It has been a journey of personal and business growth and challenge. We continue to pursue our passion of creating beauty out of the discarded and look forward to what adventures 2012 will bring. Our hopes and prayers are that for each guest that visits Wow and Then, that they will enjoy every little nook and cranny that we delight in creating for their enjoyment and memories!!

Winnipeg O' My Heart - A Blog About Moving to Manitoba
Winnipeg O' My Heart - A Blog About Moving to Manitoba
This is a gal who understands my roots.. I'm reminicing while I read.
Makes me reminded of simpler times, familiar places sights and memories as
a child especially at Christmas. Winnipeg had the most wonderful
Eatons Christmas parade and evenings were spent touring the wealthy
old neighborhoods for their delightful light displays. Family gatherings
were days on end. Not just one but many right through till New Years.
Fond and good memories. Thank you Winnipeg!
