Vintage With Flair - Christmas Market

Joining with 20 other vendors in the first Vintage With Flair Christmas Market at the Red Deer Lake Community Hall  was an amazing experience!!!! From set up to tear down, from hauling in to clean up..  we could not have asked for much more!!! The day was beautiful, as well as the product, the vignettes and the customers,  combined  the day was a total  success!!! 

Thank you !!! to my fellow vendors,  friends, customers and family for making the day special and fun!!!   

Now on to the next chapter....

With selling out of most of our inventory, we have decided to not re-open the shop for business.   So at this time if you are in the area and notice me there it is to clean up and move out a few more items.

You made it all worthwhile!!   So many special conversations and people and places that came through the doors at Wow and Then.   A chapter of my life that I will relish for the rest of my days.  It was my pleasure to serve you and help make your selections whether for gifts, home decor for your home, cottage or for no special reason but JUST BECAUSE!!!   For the travelers from around the globe whom I had the chance to intersect life with, it was my pleasure to have you too stop by .. many treasures have gone abroad and most of all the beautiful memory and scenic visions of our Beautiful Alberta!!!

Celebrate

Celebrating is definitely happening everywhere this time of year.  From family gatherings, to office parties, to Christmas pageants and  school concerts.   The act of celebrating is all around us.    As a family our celebrating has evolved over the years to become very simple and  the reason we celebrate has remained the constant throughout the years.  As a child our family celebrations involved large families, church choirs, and country Christmas concerts.   Many fond memories arise at the sound of certain carols, and pictures of horse drawn sleighs with christmas trees. I will always hold dear the memories of my childhood celebrating, and the comfort, peace and joy it brings.   

As you celebrate may the long lasting memories you make remain with you throughout the coming years.

A Time To Remember

November is already upon us and before you know it Christmas will be here.
This month is one of reflecting on our freedoms and the sacrifices that were made for this generation.  We are forever indebted to those who have given and to those who continue to do so.  

September and part of October were so much like summer it's been a bit hard
to adjust to the snow that now covers everything like a soft white blanket. But knowing Alberta weather we will have spring like days ahead.  

The shop is presently decked out with Holiday decor and music for your shopping pleasure!!  Be sure to make plans to take a drive on a sunny day and spend some time enjoying the beauty that surrounds Longview and stop by for a browse ..

COUNTING THE DAYS

Here it is December 1st, 2011.. 24 days till Christmas.. and 30 days till a new year begins.  Where does the time go.  It goes into the places, things and people that we hold dear and love.  This past year has been one of growth and learning in many ways.. and I await to see what challenges and adventures lie ahead with anticipation.  Wow and Then is and has been a sharing of what I love and desire to share with my guests and  friends.  It is a place that contains bits of history, nostalgic treasures, and a place that encourages you to fill your homes with personality and comfort !!!  To each of you who has taken the time to stop by and support me.. you are why I am  here and continue to do what I love.. Christmas is more than just a Day

As we anticipate the celebration of December 25th,  the season has taken on its full essence at Wow and Then.  The outside of the shop is now decked in greenery and even our mascot bear is sporting a white garland scarf.  With the announcement of impending snow last Thursday.. I spent the afternoon enjoying the last of the warm autumn air putting fall away and stringing up winter and Christmas decor.  Then.. the pretty snowflakes made the scene complete.  Inside it is warm and cozy with the scent of pine boughs and the glimmer of vintage balls and decor filling the rooms.  It brings me great joy to use my creativity and finds to decorate and persuade my visitors of their beauty and welcomed addition to their homes.  If you too enjoy the whole experience of preparing for Christmas.. you will enjoy taking your time in Wow and Then, Thursday - Sunday 12ish - 5ish.  I will have the coffee on ...

BOXING DAY

Christmas Day has come and gone.... but the memories linger and are held dear.  Time spent with my mom who travelled in from Winnipeg for the week,

bringing her treasured cabbage rolls and Winnipeg garlic sausage.  Shopping for my grown boys and family back home in Winnipeg, to listening to Christmas carols of all sorts and of course.. her spending time with me in my little shop... Time,  that is the greatest gift..  My adult sons spent time with us between their hectic work schedule and time was spent with friends... 

As the year 2011 is fast approaching... may time be put on your calendar as a TODO with those you hold dear.

Fall has been absolutely stunning here in the south west corner of Alberta.   We did have a sneak preview of winter to come but the days on the most part are balmy  and...halloween night was perfect for the wee ghosts and such. Now.... we look forward to the most beautiful time of year..... the sights...... the sounds..... the aromas.... must be Christmas!!!    Take a ride you will be filled with the beauty of the mountains, the fields and then....
